So, on Thursday evening me and the boys were sitting on the porch. I noticed that the door was chipping and wondered to myself, " I wonder if we have any of that color left over." I turned the shed inside out and searched the basement top to bottom... never found it. So I talked to Kev about maybe doing a burnt orange color. He was all for it... so after texting Amy what her thoughts were and calling Dev and getting their go ahead (not that Kevin's ok wasn't enough, it's just always nice to get another woman's, or two, opinions) I headed off to Home Depot and grabbed some swatches. Chose "dropping leaves" as the new door color.
The next morning, before any of the boys were up... I began the change over... starting with the trim... by the time I got to the door, Kevin was up and my painting skills weren't exactly up to par, so he took the paint brush to "show" me how I should do it... it turned out that he didn't stop showing me and painted the entire thing.
When it was all finished up, we went the the middle of the yard to check it out and I was like "hmmmm, I'm not sure"..... So I called my across the street neighbor, Rose and asked her to give me her opinion, she graciously told me that she's from a generation that doesn't really like orange... I texted a picture to the friends that would tell me what they really thought. Amy even stopped by. Everyone liked it, or so they said.
That afternoon, Kev and I took off on a little decorating adventure to find things to decorate our new door. ( I would have came home with a lot more decor for the basement had he not been with me...)
When we pulled into the driveway, we were both like "oh my gosh, the door is TOO bright!" I'm serious, I was SO embarrassed that people had been driving by it all day! Rose must have seen us pull up and she came running over with two really cute orange Gerber Daisey's to put in our baskets hanging from the windows to kind of balance the in your face orange that now covered our door. I seriously wouldn't shut the door because I didn't want anyone to get the full effect! I thought the trim was enough to get a chuckle of every passing car...
Kev and I got to brain storming and I got to going through our many paint cans of different hue browns, and found one that matched the house pretty darn well.... SO, I painted the trim brown... and here is the finished product... I really like it. It's different and it's bold... definitely not what you see in every neighborhood, which now that I think about it, maybe that's a bad thing :)
Either way, I needed change and that's what I got.... I wish that I had a before, during, and after picture of the door. I do have it on my phone. Is there a way to upload pictures to a blog?

I said it before, but now after seeing it again, I love it! Good idea on painting the trim brown. To be honest, I don't know if I noticed the trim painted orange. But I love a funky door and it's not a bad thing that yours is the only painted door. I love a different color door! Good, bold choice! You're just too cute! I'm glad I got to see you, if only for a couple minutes:)
Ok - cute!! I saw it this morning when I was out walking. I really like it. I want to repaint my door now! It needs it. Bad. Maybe Kevin can come show us how ;)
I love it! I have been going to do mine, but just haven't gotten up the energy to do it. It looks great!
